The Calendar Year (Spring + Fall) option is recommended over the Academic Year (Fall + Spring) option for students who rely on financial aid to cover most of their educational expenses. UW-W financial aid is disbursed in early September for fall semester and late January for spring semester, so students starting at Deakin in fall semester will have to pay for living/personal expenses (plane ticket, accommodation, meals) on their own in July and August before receiving their financial aid in September. Meanwhile, students starting in spring semester will receive their financial aid in late January, approximately one month before departing for Australia. However, the tuition payment schedule does conform with the normal UW-Whitewater calendar (fall tuition due in September, spring tuition due in January).
